General Questions

Your first session is about getting to know you and you getting to know your therapist. Your therapist will ask about your background, goals, and what brought you to counseling. Together, you’ll create a plan for moving forward.

Sessions are usually 45-50 minutes. The number of sessions depends on your needs — some people benefit from short-term therapy, while others prefer ongoing support. Your therapist and you can make a plan moving forward that fits your needs and your schedule.

Therapy can help with challenges like stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, and life transitions. It’s also useful for personal growth, even if you’re not in crisis. Therapy can be a great tool, the best way to know is trying. Your therapist and you can determine if on-going services is appropriate for you and your individual needs.

Yes. What you share is private and protected by law (HIPPA), with very limited exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others and neglect/abuse to children or dependent adults). Your therapist will explain confidentiality at your first session.
Logistical Questions

Scheduling depends on each therapist’s availability. Some offer evenings or early morning sessions to accommodate busy schedules. Your therapist will go over scheduling with you the first session.
