Individual therapy — also known as counseling or talk therapy — is a one-on-one process between you and a licensed therapist. It’s designed to help you navigate challenges, process difficult emotions, and build tools to improve your mental health and overall well-being.

At Blue Moon Counseling, therapy is collaborative and compassionate. We don’t just focus on struggles — we help you uncover strengths and create a path forward toward the life you want to live.

How Individual Therapy Can Help

What to Expect in Therapy

  • First Session – A conversation about your story, goals, and what you hope to achieve.

  • Ongoing Support – Weekly, bi-weekly, monthly sessions (50 minutes each) tailored to your needs. Frequency is tailored to your individual needs.

  • Collaborative Goals – You and your therapist work together to set goals and track progress.

  • Confidential Care – What you share is private, with a few legal exceptions your therapist will explain.

Blue Moon Counseling offers both in-person sessions in West Des Moines and secure tele-health sessions for your convenience.
